I am an “all things are possible” person, who believes that sometimes we just need another perspective.
Listening and guiding….who I am and what I do. Somehow, I am known as one who can be counted on for listening and guiding. Often that is exactly what I am doing without even trying. Hence, I am frequently able to help others take another look and see other viewpoints. While this has always been a part of who I am, it continues to be a part of me now.

I have had a career that exceeds 35 years of government service, including more than 20 years in management. This experience included working with people of varying backgrounds in several roles of the professional career track.

Whether in those roles as a colleague and then manager, my day to day often consisted of me listening to others and applying wisdom for managing the challenge they were facing. All these experiences culminated in me knowing that I needed to be doing something different. In that exploration, I realized I was more prepared for that role of listening and guiding than originally thought; since in middle school as I was affectionately called “Dear Abby”. Dear Abby was the name of an advice column in the syndicated newspapers, whereby people wrote about their problems and asked for help. Abby would respond with advice about handling the situation. Because I enjoyed helping others and I wore that name proudly.

Being in this role feels as natural to me as a canvas feels to an artist and not listening and guiding feels like I am out of my natural calling. As a faithful believer in God, I take nothing for granted and operate from a place of Godly principles. Therefore, ensuring I do what I was meant to do, I had to let go of the notion of giving advice and prepare myself for another way of helping. I completed training with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) that spanned four years. Post training, I have put in many coaching hours with executives, aspiring executives and general population clients, that exceeded 150 hours. Lastly, I received my coaching Certification from the International Coaching Federation, which is the largest accredited organization for training coaches. Armed with classroom training and “hands-on” experience I am ready for the task.

While Dear Abby gave advice, I don’t anymore. I assist you through coaching to get your answers.

So, I am elated when I see clients have a breakthrough or become enlightened through the process and more importantly, I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them. WANDER NO MORE!
